We Believe

We Believe

  • The NHPCB supports the mission of the American Institute of Homeopathy (AIH)* and the growth of the homeopathic community.*

  • We believe the homeopathy community in the United States would be well-served by an updated federal framework that reaffirms the unique nature of homeopathic medicines and appropriately addresses the specific conditions and requirements related to their manufacture, labeling, promotion, distribution, and use. We believe such a framework would assist the work of the NHPCB and regulatory authorities in protecting access to the full range of homeopathic medicines while ensuring their safety.

  • Consumers should know what is in the medicinal products that they use;
  • The public has the right to choose the form of healthcare that best meets its needs;
  • Independent verification of authenticity and safety promotes trust in homeopathic products;
  • Education regarding the manufacture, practice, and philosophy of homeopathic medicines is vital to the preservation and sustainability of homeopathic medicine.

  • Homeopathy has a rich history of over 200 years, which establishes a solid foundation for homeopathic medicine;
  • That the best homeopathic standards should utilize both traditional and modern methods;
    1. The Certified Homeopathic Seal will increase confidence in homeopathic products;
  • By voting with our dollars every time we purchase homeopathic products, collectively we have the power to positively change the healthcare industry.
  • AIH Mission: Our mission is to promote the science and art of homeopathic medicine, to safeguard the interests of the homeopathic medical profession, to improve the standards of homeopathic medical education, to educate the medical and scientific communities about the scientific basis for homeopathic medicine, and to increase public knowledge and acceptance of homeopathy as a medical specialty.

History of the National Homeopathic Product Certification Board

The Certified Homeopathic Seal Project began in 2020, initially conceptualized by Mike Evans and Robert Melo, MD and the result of a vision long held by the homeopathic community. The American Institute of Homeopathy (AIH) gave formal approval for the project in 2021. In early 2021, the Project expanded its Steering Committee to include representatives from all stakeholder groups in the homeopathic industry, including consumers, practitioners, brand owners, and manufacturers. Working to give the organization a solid foundation comprised of as many perspectives as possible, this dynamic group then formed advisory committees for both technical and policy issues.

The NHPCB continues to work on standards for the Seal as it seeks certifcation from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to ensure that its standards development process meets their goals (such as openness, balance, lack of dominance, etc) and thereby demonstrate fairness and completeness. We will update the homeopathy community and other stakeholders from time to time regarding our progress.
